While the MXZx 600 RS has been the class of the field, resting on laurels isn’t how the BRP Race Team operates, and this year’s snocross racing snowmobile clearly demonstrates that – as did the previously announced MXZ X-RS with Competition Package and Summit Hill Climb Edition that were heavily influenced production-based models.

The newest version of the MXZx 600RS will deliver more performance and durability for top pros and independents alike with key features from the REV Gen5 platform.

The list of improvements doesn’t stop with the platform as it also includes a re-engineered rear suspension and engine updates to take things up another notch.

The REV platform with its open cockpit design and centrally balanced engine provide superior rider ergonomics and handling in rough conditions. The layout delivers agile and responsive behavior to rider input while the Ergo Step side panels and beveled tunnel allow racers the room to attack – without interference from the chassis.

It features the REV Gen5 four-point engine mounting system and improved CVT alignment for more consistent clutch performance plus a stiffer chassis that provides more precise handling and better feedback to the rider. Another Gen5 feature is the quick-change drive axle for easier and faster track changes, making race weekends easier for the pit crews.

The RS specific front S-Module is also reinforced for improved durability and because racing can lead to unexpected events, the ignition coil and RAVE motor have been relocated inboard to protect from impacts.

Changes from last year carryover in the RAS RS front suspension with shorter shock length that maintains the same travel to help lower the center of gravity, and a spring rate that was increased to reduce roll, for better cornering.

The front suspension continues to feature a long spindle design that allows high cornering speeds and a unique power steering system exclusive to the MXZx RS race sled that provides ultra-precise handling with less effort.

The legendary rMotion RS rear suspension has also undergone many engineering updates for improved performance including a refined center arm for improved traction in rough conditions – especially the ice edges and ridges that develop in snocross racing.

The motion ratio of the rear arm is changed with a new linkage that provides a softer initial feel and when combined with the improved coupling it delivers better traction and weight transfer for more control in wicked snocross conditions.

The MXZ RS continues to use bespoke 46 mm KYB Pro Series shocks that have Integral Base Valves with the ability to adjust not only High and Low Speed Compression but also High Speed rebound and calibration has been updated to match the rear suspension geometry changes.

The engine powering the MXZx 600RS E-TEC is as sophisticated as any 2-stroke on earth – except maybe the Rotax 850 E-TEC Turbo R that features water injection, where it draws technology from like booster injectors, a short intake tract with double reeds and digital eRAVE. But that doesn’t mean it’s finicky or high maintenance – it’s actually just the opposite.

By using E-TEC advanced systems, this 600cc high output monster is a hands-off package that compensates for weather and altitude conditions while delivering maximum horsepower at all times without human intervention.

This year the engine uses new larger injectors and further refined calibration that improves reliability and overall performance yet again.

SKI-DOO RACERS WELCOME THE NEW YEAR WITH CONTINUED SUCCESS https://www.supertraxmag.com/press-releases/ski-doo-racers-welcome-the-new-year-with-continued-success/ https://www.supertraxmag.com/press-releases/ski-doo-racers-welcome-the-new-year-with-continued-success/#respond Tue, 08 Jan 2019 06:00:00 +0000 https://new.supertraxmag.com/uncategorized/ski-doo-racers-welcome-the-new-year-with-continued-success/ The new year started right where 2018 left off for Ski-Doo X-Team racers as they continued to dominate the Pro podium with five of six positions and both wins at the third stop of the ISOC snocross series in Shakopee Minnesota, just south of Minneapolis. Every Pro race has been won by a Ski-Doo racer this season with Lincoln Lemieux taking his third win of the season Friday night, leading a Ski-Doo podium sweep with Aki Pihlaja and series points leader Elias Ishoel backing him up, then Adam Renheim broke through on Saturday night for his first ever ISOC win. Ishoel finished third Saturday for two podiums on the weekend and keeps himself firmly in the lead for the points championship.

Pro Battles
The exceptionally warm conditions made for challenging races as the track continually deteriorated to one line in key areas with little opportunity to create separation and make passes. Lemieux (Scheuring Speed Sports) made the most of it on Friday as he grabbed the holeshot and checked out on the field without a serious challenge by establishing a small gap early. Behind him the BOSS Racing teammates of Pihlaja and Isohel were fighting towards the front of the pack with creative and aggressive passes showing their desire to catch Lemieux, but by the time they got into podium positions he was gone and the race was complete. Pihlaja was quick all weekend, making this his first trip to the podium, Warnert Racing teammates Adam Renheim and Tim Tremblay came home sixth and seventh.

Saturday was warm again and the sloppy snow created heavy roost and poor visibility for anyone that didn’t grab a holeshot. The start would be extremely important, but Friday’s winner Lemieux took himself out of contention immediately as he jumped the first attempted start and was moved to the back row. After another aborted start and driver penalty, the races launched on the third try with Renheim, Tremblay, Ishoel and Pihlaja all fifth place or further back. While the track lacked passing, it definitely had a rough character – the whoop section demanded the riders double, with anyone trying to triple or missing their double being penalized with a hard landing that stopped momentum instantly. Renheim was able to make some early moves that led him to third – contesting for second – with Tremblay in close pursuit. When the second place sled broke, Renheim had his opportunity to get out of the roost and chase the leader down quickly. Once there he wasted little time in making a pass – but had to give the position back because of a yellow flag – then he reset and made the move for good with two laps to go. The relief of finally collecting an ISOC win for the multi time World Champion was clear on his face afterward – and the Superman he did off the finish line jump put the exclamation on it.

Pro Lite
Max Taillefer grabbed a third-place finish in Pro Lite racing on Friday with Marcus Ogemar finishing just off the podium in fourth. Francis Pelletier had a rough outing as he off loaded hard on a hole that developed through the race finishing 11th. Top finishers Saturday were Hunter Patenaude and Pelletier in fourth and fifth respectively.

Brodeur shows grit
Megan Brodeur seemed to be challenging herself at the storied Canterbury track for Rounds 5 and 6. Friday she was blazingly fast in qualifying, but was late on the throttle for the final finding herself in fifth place after a lap. She fought back to a close second place finish at checkers but was clearly disappointed. When Saturday’s final came she was ready and grabbed an early lead, created a gap, but then fell off on the rough back stretch. She remounted in second and had to make a last lap pass to claim her fourth win of the season.

Sport Riders gaining momentum
Colton Luggert and Brian Peterson had season best races on Friday finishing second and third in the rough and tumble Sport class. Luggert backed up it up with a fifth on Saturday and has moved up significantly in the points standings.

X-TEAM SEASON FINALE RESULTS https://www.supertraxmag.com/press-releases/x-team-season-finale-results/ https://www.supertraxmag.com/press-releases/x-team-season-finale-results/#respond Tue, 21 Mar 2017 04:00:00 +0000 https://new.supertraxmag.com/uncategorized/x-team-season-finale-results/ In a flurry of racing activity, Ski-Doo racers took five National Snocross Championships at the ISOC season finale in Lake Geneva, Wis. this weekend. Aki Pihlaja led the way in the Pro Lite class, with championships clinched by Hunter Patenaude in Sport, Kurt Bauerly in Pro-Am +30 and Jordan Lebel in Junior 10-13 and Transition 8-12.

Racing at the renowned Grand Geneva Resort always provides some great action and a few surprises, but Pihlaja and Patenaude made sure to leave their marks by winning their final races of the year in dominating fashion. Bauerly and Lebel were consistently and in the hunt with each hitting the podium to cement their points championships. Surprise came for Tim Tremblay as he suffered a mechanical issue on Friday while leading the Pro Open final with two laps to go, losing a sizable points lead he couldn’t overcome the rest of the weekend. It was Tremblay’s the third runner-up finish in season points in as many years for the 2012 champion.

In Pro Open action, Lincoln Lemieux wrapped up the year strongly by never finishing less than fourth on the weekend; Elias Ishoel collected a podium and Adam Renheim placed 4th in one final.

Pihlaja had everyone’s attention in Pro Lite, but Max Taillefer made his presence felt by running strong both days and finishing second in the weekend’s first final.

Hunter Patenaude wanted to leave little doubt about who was going to be champion in the always rough-and-tumble Sport class and did so by winning both finals at Lake Geneva in dominating fashion. Fellow X-Team racer Camryn Anderson was in the mix for most of the year and finished third in the overall points race.

Danny Poirier made the last weekend of full-time racing in his career worthwhile by winning one of the Pro AM +30 finals and qualifying for both Pro Lite races. Paul Bauerly collected the other Pro AM +30 checkered flag – right in front of his brother Kurt, who won the championship. (A little reminder there’s always next year..)
