(NYSE: PII) is building on its comprehensive snowmobile and snow bike portfolio with new and enhanced rider-driven innovations and features that deliver performance, control, and agility, including the new Series 9 325 track and Timbersled’s new RIOT Gen 2 system.

The 2024 lineup is complemented by nearly 250 new parts, apparel and accessories that provide even more personalization options. This year, Polaris is making its SnowCheck program even more compelling with the launch of a SnowCheck Ship Guarantee*, which promises all 2024 SnowCheck orders will ship by November 30, 2023.

“Everything we do starts with our riders in mind,” said Jenny Nack, vice president and general manager, Polaris Snow. “The 2024 Polaris snowmobile and Timbersled lineup is one of our most refined and complete in recent years. And our new Ship Guarantee will give SnowCheck customers confidence that their customized snowmobile will not only deliver the best riding experience but will also arrive in time for winter.”

Building on an industry-leading snowmobile portfolio, the 2024 lineup offers new options for deep snow riders, along with feature and performance enhancements for trail riders. Highlights include:

Polaris is introducing an all-new Series 9 325 track, the largest in the industry, that further elevates Polaris RMK to the top of the mountain. A SnowCheck exclusive option, the new 3.25” track propels riders through the deepest powder with a design that spools up instantly and delivers a new level of traction and lift. The Series 9 325 track is joined by other SnowCheck-exclusive features including the factory-mod power of the Patriot 9R and the turbocharged Patriot Boost.

As the newest engine, the four-stroke ProStar S4 is offers enhanced efficiency and durability across INDY, Voyageur, and Titan snowmobiles. From its smooth throttle response, to less maintenance and easier ownership, it continues to deliver spirited performance, with the capability and fun to hit the trails, haul gear, and enjoy the winter.

The 2024 lineup boasts an optional 7-inch display powered by RIDE COMMAND technology. The Polaris-exclusive offering, RIDE COMMAND is the sport’s first and most dedicated GPS mapping and rider connectivity technology without needing cellular connection. RIDE COMMAND continues to set the standard allowing riders to plan routes, organize and track riding groups, and offers industry-leading Bluetooth connectivity on a full color, glove-friendly touchscreen 7S Display.

“We never stop looking for ways to improve the riding experience,” said Nack. “Whether through bold, game-changing innovations like Patriot 9R and the Matryx platform, or our ongoing efforts to tune and enhance quality and performance, the passion and commitment of our team to continually raise the bar is always there.”

To complement the 2024 lineup, Polaris is launching nearly 250 new accessories, parts and apparel. Mountain riders can discover increased comfort and customization options with our new handlebar gauntlets, new colors in our backcountry handguards, and new options in our signature Lock & Ride Flex Storage bags. Trail riders have expanded auxiliary lighting options, as well as added accent lights to enable even more personalization. Those looking for extra storage needs may be interested in the new towable Adventure trailer, featuring independent suspension and a taillight.

SnowCheck – the industry’s most comprehensive customization spring order program – launched for 2024 snowmobile model ordering on March 6 and will run through March 29. This year, exclusivity and customization remain at the forefront with models, engine options, technology features, and specific colors available only through the pre-order program.

Riders that order through the 2024 Polaris SnowCheck program will also receive up to a three-year extended warranty and a shipment guarantee that provides riders with the confidence their sled will ship by November 30, 2023 or customers receive $1,500 off at purchase.

WHAT’S POLARIS GOT FOR 2024? https://www.supertraxmag.com/features/whats-polaris-got-for-2024/ https://www.supertraxmag.com/features/whats-polaris-got-for-2024/#respond Wed, 25 Jan 2023 18:23:13 +0000 https://www.supertraxmag.com/?p=15190 It’s that time of year again when we start speculating what the OEMs will be rolling out for your humble servants (that’s us) to sample at Sneak Peek.

For the record, Sneak Peek is held in late January or early February at a top secret location each one of the OEMs selects annually. It’s not a West Yellowstone Snow Shoot event as each OEMs runs a private party with only select in-sport media invited. As you can imagine, the list of media participants has been getting somewhat shorter the past few years.

So here goes with what we think Polaris may show us at its 2024 Sneak Peek.

DYNAMIX

We think Polaris will unveil its highly effective, semi-active Dynamix suspension system on at least the Indy MATRYX VR-1. The snowmobile intro of this technology is actually about a year overdue with Ski-Doo, Arctic Cat and Yamaha offering their own semi-active systems.

This technology is not cheap to develop or produce, so expect it to be available only on top-of-the-segment models and only on Snow Checked Polaris models.

TURBO 4-STROKE

We’ve rumored we expect Polaris to take its 4-stroke program (S4) to more models in 20224. However, we think it is not beyond the realm of possibility for the new 1000cc Pro Star S4 to get the Boost treatment.

Think about this: The 1000cc Pro Star engine used in the S4 has been turbocharged to produce 180 HP in select RZR off-road SxS vehicles.

Simply put, that engine can inhale copious quantities of compressed air literally jammed down its throat with nary as much as a cough. Bolting a turbo onto the Pro Star S4 mill can’t be too difficult… can it?

XCR BOOST

Next issue requiring speculation: The insertion of the Boost 850 Patriot into the XCR platform. We think this is a no-brainer with the ditch banging crowd always looking for more lift-off power on the “approaches”.

While the Boost 850 VR-1 fits nicely into the rider profile it’s intended for, there’s more than just “lake racers looking for a Boost-equipped bump runner”.

The XCR Boost should come with a 137 out back like the VR-1 Boost. A 1.5 Camso Shredder would be practical on an XCR Boost.

GAUGE TECH

Here’s a long shot, but, hey, this is what we do at Sneak Peek time. I think we might see a new standard gauge to replace the long-in-the-tooth PID cluster. Ski-Doo not only upped its deluxe display to 10.2 inches but it improved its “base model “info center for 2023.

The PID does not allow easy access to the settings supporting the new Smart Grip thumb and handwarmers. A new display would surely include improved access to the excellent heaters similar to the S-7.

That’s about it for our Polaris predictions and wishes for MY 2024. Maybe you have a few guesses too so let’s hear it!

Changing Mindset Toward Wide Track Sleds https://www.supertraxmag.com/features/changing-mindset-toward-wide-track-sleds/ https://www.supertraxmag.com/features/changing-mindset-toward-wide-track-sleds/#respond Sat, 10 Feb 2018 11:00:00 +0000 https://new.supertraxmag.com/uncategorized/changing-mindset-toward-wide-track-sleds/ Okay, not everybody is going to do backflips over this latest Expedition. However, this 24-inch wide tracked workhorse powered by a 900 ACE does have a very loyal audience who are absolutely pumped about it.

Why? The math involved here using a 156-inch long track that is 4-inches wider than any other utility sled, enables the SWT (Super Wide Track) to float snow better than pretty much any other snowmobile with the exception of a 175-inch pure mountain sled. If you compare ground pressure numbers, the SWT is really pretty amazing considering its size.

That kind of floatation means you can pretty much go anywhere. In high elevation after a nightlong snowfall when the powder is particularly dry and deep, this sled can perform amazingly well in rescue situations.

When it comes to off-trail riding with two onboard and a ton (literally) of gear loaded on it, this sled can target remote locations you’d never dream of stabbing at with a narrower sled.

Here’s something else: The ground is shaking among 2-up riders who want maximum comfort and rideability with a passenger.

It goes this way. If you’re making the commitment to own and ride a 2-upper, you’ve already accepted the fact most of these sleds are bigger, heavier, wider and longer than conventional single passenger sleds.

The fact is, once you’ve made the decision to go 2-up it just isn’t that much of a stretch to move into a sled like the Expedition, Titan, Bearcat or VK Yamaha.

Sure, there was a day when these sleds were severely compromised, but today, that just isn’t the case. These giants ride incredibly well, handle good and most are offered with decent, overachieving power. The additional bonus is limitless space, ample storage and magnificent comfort for two.

The biggest holdback to trail riders is the way they look – and the perception the rider will look awkward on them – not based on fact!

If you ever get a chance to test ride one of these or go on a ride where one is present, you’ll be absolutely in awe at how proficient they are – even compared to a high performance trail sled.

TOO COLD TO RIDE? https://www.supertraxmag.com/features/too-cold-to-ride/ https://www.supertraxmag.com/features/too-cold-to-ride/#respond Wed, 10 Jan 2018 11:00:00 +0000 https://new.supertraxmag.com/uncategorized/too-cold-to-ride/ I just finished riding 160 km (100 miles) on the coldest day in years. I decided I wouldn’t let cold weather, something we need, deter me from enjoying my favorite sport.

Luke was going to ride with me but ended up taking his kids swimming and promised to ride with me the next day when it warms up to minus 9 Celcius.

AJ was on a getaway with his wife and therefore had an excuse. Vern was in Minneapolis at the ISOC Canterbury race and I think he would have ridden with me. He’s into challenges.

However, it was pretty obvious a lot of riders in Central Ontario decided to stay indoors on January 6th 2018 even though the sun was bright, trails had been improving every day and the snow base was solid.

Yet, I probably met less than 20 sleds on a ride that would normally see a Saturday number of 200 to 300 sleds on the trails.

So here’s my point: We are northern people. I mean you and I, the people who ride snowmobiles in the US and Canadian snow belts.

We are built for cold weather and are blessed with the knowledge and equipment to conquer it. Today I rode at temperatures ranging from minus 30 Celcius to a daytime high of minus 22. Was I cold? A little. However I had the luxury of choosing a sled with an enormous windshield, a Polaris Titan Adventure.

This was without a doubt the most important component in allowing me a pleasurable ride. If I had picked a sled with any lower windshield I would not have been able to stay warm, particularly when I was running lakes at high speeds.

We are fortunate to have a sponsorship relationship with a quality clothing supplier. FXR makes quality snow-mo-clothing that’s innovative and exceptionally good looking.

They also produce a new item that made my cold weather ride pleasant. FXR’s new electric gloves are quite simply the best idea I’ve seen in years and this year, with over three weeks of record-breaking cold, they’ve proven 100-percent effective.

If you struggle with cold hands, get a pair of these quality fingered gloves. They are not cheap but one hour into a ride at minus 18 Celcius (zero Fahrenheit), all of sudden, they’re cheap.

This isn’t a commercial, it’s a statement about snowmobiling. I actually rode areas today at speeds generating wind chills close to what NASA astronauts on a space walk are subject to.

I remember a winter like this one with minus 30 Celcius temps. It was about 35 years ago and it was at a time when many sleds didn’t come with hot grips. We rode then, too.

One more thing: I did this ride because I can’t do this in July.

2018 POLARIS TITAN SP https://www.supertraxmag.com/features/2018-polaris-titan-sp/ https://www.supertraxmag.com/features/2018-polaris-titan-sp/#respond Wed, 20 Sep 2017 04:00:00 +0000 https://new.supertraxmag.com/uncategorized/2018-polaris-titan-sp/ You may be thinking the industry has gone nuts when you read about sleds like the new Polaris Titan SP.

At first glance it looks like a performance sled. However, it seems like the Titan SP breaks every rule of performance snowmobiling: It’s huge – but it’s got a big, powerful 800cc 2-stroke.

Its massive track is 20-inches wide and 155-inches long. Yeah, plenty of surface area – but what about all that power-robbing weight?

It’s supposed to be a utility-style sled because it’s got wide workhorse skis and an articulated rear suspension, but it’s got mountain style PowderTrac running boards and all the hot rod electronic features of a top performing trail or mountain sled. What’s up?

We don’t know either, but this sled is a blast to ride. We suspect it’s designed to compete head-on with Ski-Doo’s Expedition Extreme – also a utility-adaptable sled with pared down looks and an 800 2-stroke under its hood.

Comparisons aside, the market for these sleds is to regional North American riders who boondock a lot and, especially, to Northern Europeans who ride Scandinavian terrain where there may or may not be groomed trails.

We rode the Titan last winter and were shocked at its maneuverability and light ergonomic feedback when you’re in the drivers seat. It handles and steers like an Assault and its suspension is as good or better than any trail-targeted Polaris.

Although the seat is wider because of its wide tunnel and track, it never feels cumbersome or particularly bulky. Five minutes in the cockpit and you feel right at home, honing twisty trails and launching into powder. The sled is surprisingly responsive to its driver’s body-english and responds off-trail like a good mountain sled.

We think some of this ergonomic bliss may be because the weight of the sled is pretty well-balanced. A front-weighted 4-stroke actually feels more intimidating in powder than the Titan but because the 800 is light and the weight of the engine and drive system is parallel throughout the chassis front to rear, it handles deep snow challenges really well. Fast? Plenty.

We’re curious to see how the Titan SP sells in North America. We know for sure there are riders in Maine, Northern Ontario, Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador that have been waiting for a sled like the Titan.
