While snowmobile manufacturers go to painstaking lengths to squeeze every available ounce of horsepower out of engines; engineers have their hands tied when it comes to shedding the weight from emission regulated exhaust systems.

This is where aftermarket exhaust companies like MBRP can play a pivotal role in dropping significant pounds while increasing performance with modest horsepower gains along with delivering a crisper throttle response and an overall better sounding package.

MBRP’s latest performance exhausts are for the highly anticipated and sought after Arctic Cat 600 C-TEC2 engine in the CATALYST chassis. The exhausts are constructed from T304 stainless steel and are Tig welded. The Race and Trail exhausts are also fitted with laser cut brackets for precise fit, thereby making it easy to slip the exhaust into place using hand tools and existing exhaust springs.

The RACE exhaust (P/N: 2390316), featuring a more aggressive sound is targeted to closed course racing and mountain riding applications. It relies solely on the performance exhaust core and sheds an impressive 16 pounds from the stock muffler while increasing horsepower by an additional 3 HP.

The TRAIL Exhaust (P/N: 239T114), with its more moderate and trail-friendly tone has an additional chamber core compared to the Race exhaust and shaves off 12 pounds while delivering a 1 horsepower increase.

While evaluating the TRAIL exhaust our test riders commented on the crisper throttle response that really comes to life past three quarter throttle along with the signature and pleasing MBRP exhaust note that enhances the deeper tone of the 600 C-TEC2.

MBRP prides itself on high performance exhausts that stand up to the harshest environments and offers a 2-year full coverage warranty on all its snowmobile exhausts.

FINALLY, A QUIET PERFORMANCE EXHAUST https://www.supertraxmag.com/features/finally-a-quiet-performance-exhaust/ https://www.supertraxmag.com/features/finally-a-quiet-performance-exhaust/#respond Sat, 25 Jan 2020 06:00:00 +0000 https://new.supertraxmag.com/uncategorized/finally-a-quiet-performance-exhaust/ Snowmobilers with performance sleds have always been interested in accessorizing their rides – especially when they’re new. One of the most popular accessories has adding a “performance” exhaust silencer. For many years this meant, quite simply, “noise equals power”.

While that last statement might be true, the social acceptability of an aftermarket exhaust that generates increased power at the cost of increased sound (db) is dwindling – fast.

Many snowmobile jurisdictions in the US and Canada have simply outlawed all exhaust modifications. While this scrutiny does seem biased against the snowmobile industry, it’s time for a better way to get more power and lighter weight.

My point about unfair or unbalanced scrutiny of the snowmobile industry when it comes to exhaust noise, is 100-percent rooted in the reality over 80 percent of all Harley Davidson motorcycles are fitted with performance, low restriction (read: ultra-loud) exhaust pipes and for the most part, nobody seems to care. Go figure.

Enter the MBRP Quiet series exhaust. MBRP and its talented crew of exhaust designers have come up with a piece of sno-mo performance genius. After riding an 850 Polaris with an MBRP Quiet Series silencer this past weekend I’m very optimistic about the future of this product.

The Quiet Series silencer is a complete no-brainer to install on a Polaris AXYS 850 and a little more work on a Ski-Doo G4 850 or 600R. The stainless steel exhaust is beautifully made and comes highly polished and with everything needed for the install.

The net HP gain is not heroic , but is a legit one horsepower. However, the Quiet Series scores big points in weight reduction – it’s a full six pounds lighter than stock.

Here’s the beef. The Quiet Series silencer is just that – much quieter than any aftermarket silencer we’ve ever tested. At idle, through engagement and at trail speeds there is no, zero, zip obtrusive crackly or annoying resonance. None.

When you crack the loud handle out on the lake there is a definite difference in the exhaust note from stock.

Think of it this way. Corvettes come with legal-quiet stock exhaust systems. Despite this, Corvettes have a sweet, throaty, imposing tone all of their own. That’s the best way to describe the MBRP Quiet Series Exhaust silencer.

The time has arrived, my sno-mo-accessory-crazed Buds, to live in the now and get an MBRP Quiet Series silencer. For sure – you’ll make more friends and contribute to protecting our sport’s future.

MBRP QUIET SERIES TRAIL EXHAUST https://www.supertraxmag.com/top-gear/mbrp-quiet-series-trail-exhaust/ https://www.supertraxmag.com/top-gear/mbrp-quiet-series-trail-exhaust/#respond Sun, 19 Jan 2020 06:00:00 +0000 https://new.supertraxmag.com/uncategorized/mbrp-quiet-series-trail-exhaust/ Finally! An aftermarket exhaust company has answered the call trail riders have been begging for. Introducing MBRP’s Quiet Series exhaust for the Polaris Patriot 850 and Ski-Doo’s 850 and 600R E-TEC equipped sleds.

Key to the Quiet Series design is a decibel equivalent aftermarket exhaust which is packaged in a slick looking oval shape 304 Stainless steel and TIG welded body.

The new 430Q for Polaris and 132Q for Ski-Doo snowmobiles go further and shed 6-pounds off the stock mufflers while delivering a 1-horsepower increase in power.

Substantial R&D and Dyno testing focusing on increasing maximum flow while damping sound to stock levels as well as delivering weight savings along with an increase in horsepower were all key metrics which absolutely had to be met.

After testing both exhausts we were totally blown away at how close in sound the new Quiet Series exhausts are to stock. MBRP informed us that while the Polaris exhaust is just a tad louder than stock they were able to match the decibel level for the Ski-Doo 850 and 600R E-TEC engines.

What’s more impressive is the enhanced exhaust note and crisper throttle response. Both exhausts really come to life past 3/4 throttle and generate that signature and pleasing MBRP exhaust note which enhances the deeper tone of the engines while keeping the sound level at trail friendly levels.

Both the 430Q and 132Q come with a limited 2-Year warranty protecting the consumer from manufacture defects. While it is still important you check with your local authorities on rules and regulations on using an aftermarket exhaust, we are happy to say that MBRP is paving the way to a trail compliant exhaust that delivers on performance.

MBRP PATRIOT 850 EXHAUST https://www.supertraxmag.com/top-gear/mbrp-patriot-850-exhaust/ https://www.supertraxmag.com/top-gear/mbrp-patriot-850-exhaust/#respond Mon, 04 Feb 2019 06:00:00 +0000 https://new.supertraxmag.com/uncategorized/mbrp-patriot-850-exhaust/ Earlier this season we got an exclusive inside look at the development of the new MBRP Performance Exhaust for the Patriot 850 engine.

While the stock HP of the Polaris 850 is already pretty impressive the tuners at MBRP never cease to amaze us as they are always able to deliver performance gains while also creating that crisp & throaty MBRP sound we’ve come to love.

The development of any new MBRP exhaust starts with benchmarking the stock exhaust on the Dyno. This is then followed by meticulously creating iterations which are Dyno and Flow Bench tested. The end goal for achieving performance gains for the Patriot 850 was to lower exhaust gas temperatures along with exhaust flow restriction while at the same time optimizing back pressure.

The result was two exhaust versions; one targeted at Trail where legal decibel levels are enforced and other marketed as a Race exhaust. It’s important to note that the Race exhaust is meant to be used for racing, mountain riding or anywhere outside of where sound levels are enforced. Both exhausts yield significant weight reductions and moderate increases to horsepower.

Build from 304 stainless steel and using a special ceramic coating for the in & outlet pipes the 6 inch diameter body Trail exhaust shaves 9 pounds off the stock exhaust while increasing power by 2HP. Built using the same 304 stainless steel and ceramic coating technology the Race exhaust has a slim body that measures 4 inch in diameter resulting in 11 pounds of weight savings off the stock exhaust while increasing HP an extra 3 ponies.

Looking closer at the fitment, both the Trail and Race designs have laser cut brackets which guarantee a bolt-on and go design and the top bracket has been repositioned to increase its strength for those riders that tend to push the limits. Neither the trail or race exhaust require any remapping or reprogramming making these true bolt on designs.

Aside from the impressive weight savings our testing of the exhausts on the snow delivered noticeable improvements to throttle response and acceleration. For the Trail exhaust, the free flowing HP seemed endless as the speedo arced its way past the C-note and power delivery out of the corners was instantaneous and strong.

The enhanced sound being emitted from the exhaust was characteristically 100% MBRP. Throaty at idle with a crisp punch when you snap the throttle. We will admit; a loader exhaust does take a bit of getting used to when running at a constant speed, but the sound level and frequency of the MBRP exhaust does produce one of the cleanest sounding exhaust notes we’ve tested so far.

Both the Trail and Race exhausts come with a 2-year warranty and are available for purchase through the MBRP website or authorized dealer.

As a final note, regardless if you’re running a trail legal aftermarket or a stock exhaust, it’s important to maintain and exercise proper etiquette and stay off the throttle when passing through towns and communities. The purpose of an aftermarket exhaust is to increase performance and not to boast your ego.

MBRP EXHAUST – ARCTIC CAT C-TEC2 https://www.supertraxmag.com/top-gear/mbrp-exhaust-arctic-cat-c-tec2/ https://www.supertraxmag.com/top-gear/mbrp-exhaust-arctic-cat-c-tec2/#respond Mon, 05 Mar 2018 06:00:00 +0000 https://new.supertraxmag.com/uncategorized/mbrp-exhaust-arctic-cat-c-tec2/ As much as some riders don’t like to admit it, exhaust systems are wearable items. Carbon build up and worn out packing choke off the exhaust flow and rob the power from your snowmobile. The other huge disadvantage is weight.

MBRP offers a full line of OEM replacement exhausts as a performance upgrade. All exhausts are designed to OEM specs for fitment but come with the added benefits of horsepower gains, significant weight reductions, increased throttle response, improved low end torque and of course a sweet sounding exhaust note.

New for 2018 are mufflers for Arctic Cat sleds equipped with the 800 C-Tec2 motor. Available in both a trail and race can design both exhausts are build from durable 304 stainless steel with precise laser cut brackets as well as offering considerable weight savings.

MBRP exhausts are very easy to install and are super durable. The trail can increases the horsepower output of your 800 DSI by an honest 1hp, not a whole lot but MBRP found the DSI required increased backpressure to maintain optimal performance and therefore built that into the design of the trail can. All brackets are laser cut and the decibel level meets sound requirements where exhaust modifications are allowed on trails.

The biggest news though is the weight savings this can drops a whopping 11 pounds of fat which would otherwise take thousands of dollars to do by swapping out hardware on your sled with aftermarket titanium or carbon fiber. In the crossover and mountain markets 11 pounds is huge!

MBRP is the official exhaust of the CSRA snocross series and their C-Tec2 Race exhaust is recommended for competition use.

It is all kinds of wonderful when you squeeze the throttle with a crisp and fast throttle response that lets others know exactly where you are. The horsepower numbers stay true at 1hp increase but the weight savings goes even deeper with an extra two pounds, which makes for a total of 13 pounds of weight savings.

If you are racing or running high altitude shedding 13 pounds is not just significant it’s incredible.
