While the MXZx 600 RS has been the class of the field, resting on laurels isn’t how the BRP Race Team operates, and this year’s snocross racing snowmobile clearly demonstrates that – as did the previously announced MXZ X-RS with Competition Package and Summit Hill Climb Edition that were heavily influenced production-based models.

The newest version of the MXZx 600RS will deliver more performance and durability for top pros and independents alike with key features from the REV Gen5 platform.

The list of improvements doesn’t stop with the platform as it also includes a re-engineered rear suspension and engine updates to take things up another notch.

The REV platform with its open cockpit design and centrally balanced engine provide superior rider ergonomics and handling in rough conditions. The layout delivers agile and responsive behavior to rider input while the Ergo Step side panels and beveled tunnel allow racers the room to attack – without interference from the chassis.

It features the REV Gen5 four-point engine mounting system and improved CVT alignment for more consistent clutch performance plus a stiffer chassis that provides more precise handling and better feedback to the rider. Another Gen5 feature is the quick-change drive axle for easier and faster track changes, making race weekends easier for the pit crews.

The RS specific front S-Module is also reinforced for improved durability and because racing can lead to unexpected events, the ignition coil and RAVE motor have been relocated inboard to protect from impacts.

Changes from last year carryover in the RAS RS front suspension with shorter shock length that maintains the same travel to help lower the center of gravity, and a spring rate that was increased to reduce roll, for better cornering.

The front suspension continues to feature a long spindle design that allows high cornering speeds and a unique power steering system exclusive to the MXZx RS race sled that provides ultra-precise handling with less effort.

The legendary rMotion RS rear suspension has also undergone many engineering updates for improved performance including a refined center arm for improved traction in rough conditions – especially the ice edges and ridges that develop in snocross racing.

The motion ratio of the rear arm is changed with a new linkage that provides a softer initial feel and when combined with the improved coupling it delivers better traction and weight transfer for more control in wicked snocross conditions.

The MXZ RS continues to use bespoke 46 mm KYB Pro Series shocks that have Integral Base Valves with the ability to adjust not only High and Low Speed Compression but also High Speed rebound and calibration has been updated to match the rear suspension geometry changes.

The engine powering the MXZx 600RS E-TEC is as sophisticated as any 2-stroke on earth – except maybe the Rotax 850 E-TEC Turbo R that features water injection, where it draws technology from like booster injectors, a short intake tract with double reeds and digital eRAVE. But that doesn’t mean it’s finicky or high maintenance – it’s actually just the opposite.

By using E-TEC advanced systems, this 600cc high output monster is a hands-off package that compensates for weather and altitude conditions while delivering maximum horsepower at all times without human intervention.

This year the engine uses new larger injectors and further refined calibration that improves reliability and overall performance yet again.

2024 Arctic Cat Snowmobile Lineup https://www.supertraxmag.com/press-releases/2024-arctic-cat-snowmobile-lineup/ https://www.supertraxmag.com/press-releases/2024-arctic-cat-snowmobile-lineup/#respond Fri, 03 Mar 2023 15:31:17 +0000 https://www.supertraxmag.com/?p=15320 Arctic Cat Inc., a Textron Inc. (NYSE:TXT) company, announced today its 2024 snowmobile lineup headlined by the all-new CATALYST platform – a lightweight and centralized platform designed with the rider in mind. The company also reintroduced the full-size touring Pantera 7000, ZR 7000 and race-ready ZR 9000 RR.

“Model Year 2024 is one of the most exciting snowmobile launches in recent history,” said Troy Halvorson, Director of Product Strategy, Snowmobiles for Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc. “Along with introducing the new CATALYST platform, we are reintroducing models that welcome even more riders into the Arctic Cat family.”

The narrow, tightly compacted and completely balanced CATALYST platform features Arctic Cat’s laydown engine design with heavier components placed in the middle of the chassis and lighter ones placed on the outskirts to keep the ride balanced.

It is one of the lightest weight and most durable platforms Arctic Cat has ever released, featuring a steel, one-piece front end and an aluminum body to provide extra support and durability where needed, without being bulky.

Arctic Cat also consolidated parts for a 10 percent weight reduction and easier serviceability. The lightweight, rider-centralized design coupled with improved ergonomics makes for an agile, easily maneuverable sled that minimizes rider fatigue and gives the rider better control.

The chassis also features the first locking accessory system that is quick and easy. The ATACH system consists of two factory-installed base brackets found on the chassis that connect into two mounting brackets on the accessory. For additional security, there’s a set of keys to lock accessories to the sled.

The CATALYST platform is initially available with a C-TEC2 599cc, 2-stroke 600 series 125-horsepower class engine with additional power options being added in the future. The platform spans the trail, crossover and mountain segments with terrain-specific modifications to deliver the best ride experience in any conditions. The models include the ZR 600, ZR 600 ATAC, ZR 600 R-XC, M 600, RIOT 600 and RIOT 600 ATAC.

In addition to the ZR 7000, ZR 8000, ZR 8000 ATAC, ZR 8000 RR, and ZR 9000 Thundercat , Arctic Cat has added the Pantera 7000, ZR 7000 and ZR 9000 RR to its full-sized trail lineup. The Pantera 7000 fills the need for a full-size touring sled to share the ride with a friend, the ZR 7000 gives trail enthusiasts another 4-stroke trail option, and the ZR 9000 RR combines turbocharged power and electronic power steering with a race-ready suspension package for an exhilarating trail experience.

Arctic Cat’s crossover lineup continues to offer the RIOT X QS3, RIOT QS3, RIOT 8000 ATAC and RIOT 9000 to cater to the different types of crossover riding styles. For mountain riders, the M 8000 Mountain Cat ALPHA ONE now share the same chassis that includes a stronger rear tunnel and grippier tunnel edge roles which were standard on the 2023 Hardcore. The models have three available track lengths and electric or manual start. The M 8000 Hardcore ALPHA ONE comes with FOX QS3 coil-over shocks for all four shocks while the Mountain Cat utilizes FOX FLOAT 3 QS3 shocks.

Arctic Cat continues to offer the sport utility Norseman X 8000, the mid-sized BLAST models and youth sleds for Model Year 2024 along with a full line of accessories and ride gear.

All 2024 Arctic Cat snowmobiles will be available for pre-order from March 7 through March 30. Rouski EVO – New Design and New Features https://www.supertraxmag.com/top-gear/rouski-evo-new-design-and-new-features/ https://www.supertraxmag.com/top-gear/rouski-evo-new-design-and-new-features/#respond Wed, 22 Feb 2023 14:36:43 +0000 https://www.supertraxmag.com/?p=15299 How about discovering an “evolved” version of Rouski? This Fall, Kimpex will be introducing the Rouski EVO, the first fully lockable system on the market. More compact, better integrated, and incredibly easier to operate, the Rouski EVO will offer the most efficient and safe solution to protect snowmobile runners and surfaces when travelling off snow.

Effortless Operation

“From the start, it was a priority: it had to be easy to operate. The user had to be able to activate the wheels without having to lift the ski and without bending over.” This is how the Kimpex innovation team start the presentation, while the engineer rotates the wheels under the ski effortlessly with his foot. The effect is convincing every time! This ease of operation is the result of the double pivot mechanism (patent pending) at the heart of the new system. It gradually multiplies the output force by a factor of 8. A simple foot pressure on the pedal helps the snowmobile’s ski rise easily. As a result, the Rouski EVO greatly improves snowmobile accessibility. Why strain yourself when the Rouski EVO can work for you?

First and only system on the market to be fully lockable

A retractable wheel system is above all a device helping riders to maneuver their machine when driving off snow. It must thus be reliable. However, with most current systems available in the market, when loading the machine onto a trailer or when going reverse, all too often, the device is under great pressure, causing the wheels to unintentionally disengage. The Rouski EVO is equipped with a lock button (patent pending) that can lock the wheels, both when they are raised and lowered. This significant innovation greatly improves the snowmobile’s handling.

Unique two-part design

As opposed to other systems, the Rouski EVO needs a ski adapter for installation. This unique two-part design (patent pending) makes it possible to reuse Rouski EVO on different types of skis by only changing the runner adapter. The system’s retainer screws are easy to remove, while the adapter subtly remains in place. This construction easily and conveniently fits different types of rides. Snowmobilers owning several machines or who change their ski will also benefit from this device. Likewise, it is a significant advantage for dealers who can easily meet their consumers’ needs.

Innovation is key to our mission!

For a few years at Kimpex, we have been working to offer powersport enthusiasts added value products. With three patents pending, the Rouski EVO is introducing unique features to the market aimed at improving driving experience off the snow, as well as for loading on a trailer, travelling along the roads, and for snowmobile storage.

The Rouski EVO will be available for purchase in Fall 2023.

Ski-Doo Re-Energizes and Resets The Bar

For 2024, Ski-Doo introduces the MXZ X-RS with the new trail version of the Rotax 850 E-TEC Turbo R featuring an industry-first water injection system, becoming the most powerful 2-stroke engine available. With that extra power, engineers also added the strengthened components of the Competition package to create an even tougher MXZ X-RS to withstand many miles of big bumps and rough trails.

Ski-Doo is also expanding the fifth generation of the REV platform to more models, including many with 4-stroke power. With the introduction of 4-stroke power in the REV Gen 5, the MXZ and Renegade lines of snowmobiles reset their positioning in the larger Ski-Doo lineup. The 2024 Backcountry models also see some huge changes with a move to the REV Gen5 and will offer a more athletic look, trail precision and straight-line tracking improvements, better balance of control and fun factor.

Finally, the deep snow crowd gets a re-engineered Freeride model that the most hardcore riders will appreciate as it establishes a new standard of handling for the riders that continue to push creativity to new levels in their extreme deep snow maneuvers.

“The new MXZ X-RS is the ultimate trail sled, truly at the pinnacle of high performance. We’ve combined the best components to deliver an unforgettable ride that will leave the most ardent skeptics smiling from ear to ear,” said Jérémi Doyon-Roch, Manager, Global Marketing, Snowmobile and Cross Brand Initiatives at BRP. “We’ve also deployed the REV Gen5 platform on the Renegade, Backcountry and Grand Touring, to offer riders the best possible technologies, refined performance and ultimately, the best experience ever on a snowmobile.”

OFSC Message For International Snowmobile Safety Week, January 14 – 22 https://www.supertraxmag.com/press-releases/ofsc-message-for-international-snowmobile-safety-week-january-14-22/ https://www.supertraxmag.com/press-releases/ofsc-message-for-international-snowmobile-safety-week-january-14-22/#respond Thu, 12 Jan 2023 18:01:22 +0000 https://www.supertraxmag.com/?p=15097 As the non-profit, volunteer-driven association that oversees organized snowmobile trails in Ontario, the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) is cautioning snowmobilers that the greater majority of its 30,000 kilometres of OFSC Prescribed Snowmobile Trails are currently identified as being “Unavailable” to ride.

Most OFSC trails do not typically become Available to ride before mid-January, and although the recent unseasonal weather has impacted overall trail readiness, snowmobile clubs and their volunteers continue to work hard on making as many OFSC trails as possible Available to ride in the near future.

Only Ride Available Trails:

For safety week, the OFSC reminds snowmobilers to only ride Available or Limited Availability OFSC trails and avoid riding Unavailable trails at any time during the winter. Snowmobilers can easily find out where there are Available trails to ride by checking Trail Status 24/7 on the OFSC Interactive Trail Guide (ITG) or on the OFSC Go Snowmobiling App. Trail Status shows on the ITG as:

GREEN for Available: The identified route is accessible with the understanding that the trail will likely vary considerably in quality, attributes and terrain over its length.

YELLOW for Limited Availability: Access to the identified route is limited with marginal riding opportunities, so snowmobilers enter with the understanding that they should ride with extreme care and reduced speed.

RED for Unavailable: The identified route is not available at this time, with access prohibited, and entering any Unavailable trail on private property is trespassing.

Stay On The Trail:

The OFSC also reminds snowmobilers riding an Available OFSC trail throughout the winter, to always stay on the trail. OFSC Prescribed Snowmobile Trails are planned, prepared and maintained for the use of responsible recreational snowmobilers who display valid Ontario Snowmobile Trail Permits on their sleds.

These snowmobile corridors are the smart choice for safety’s sake, and to avoid trespassing on private property or compromising the safety of landowners or their property.

Snowmobile incident stats indicate that entering an Unavailable trail, riding off-trail on roads, waterways or areas without trails is a very risky choice.

Ride Responsibly:

The OFSC encourages snowmobilers entering Available OFSC trails to always ride responsibly, with caution, care & control. OFSC trail riding, like many other outdoor activities, has inherent risks that may occur in an unpredictable and uncontrollable natural environment, often far from home.

So snowmobilers must take personal responsibility for their own safety by making prudent choices, practicing safe riding behaviours, and always being prepared for the unexpected.

“Safety is a shared responsibility, a reminder that we send to all snowmobilers every January,” said Ryan Eickmeier, OFSC CEO. “Safety week is an early season focal point to refresh ourselves on key safe riding principles to ensure everyone enjoys OFSC trails this winter.”

The Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs (OFSC) is a volunteer led, not for profit association that provides the voice for organized snowmobiling in Ontario. OFSC snowmobile trails managed by 200 community based, member clubs generate up to $3.3 billion in economic activity in the province each year.

“The supply chain continues to be an issue for all manufacturers, and we are taking an approach to ensure we can deliver on our current commitments to customers,” said Heidi McNary, Senior Vice President and General Manager, Powersports for Textron Specialized Vehicles Inc. “Our focus is to put our customers first by delivering our current models, and also offering them 2023 sleds that give them more options and new products for their different riding styles.”

Trail and crossover enthusiasts now have more options to pair engine packages and suspensions on ZR and RIOT models with no upcharge on colors. Engine packages include 6000 and 8000 for ZR models, 9000 for Thundercat, and 8000 and 9000 engines for RIOT — with standard EPS on all 9000 models. Suspension packages include IFP shocks, FOX QS3 or Arctic Cat’s revolutionary, adjust-on-the-fly ATAC suspension system.

For mountain riders the Mountain Cat ALPHA ONE will have three available track lengths, electric or manual start, and will feature an ATAC suspension. The Hardcore will have the same track lengths and start options with FOX QS3 shocks.

Industry-leading turbo power comes to the crossover segment with the introduction of the new RIOT 9000. The RIOT 9000 combines a C-TEC 4 998cc, 4-stroke 9000 Series DOHC Turbo Triple churning 200-plus horsepower with the ARS II front suspension and CROSS-ACTION Rear Suspension for an adrenaline-inducing on- or off-trail ride. Standard EPS makes the sled more nimble and creates less rider fatigue for a more enjoyable, exhilarating experience.

Also new for 2023:

The ZR 6000 R-XC is available as part of the pre-order program only. BLAST models offer customized graphics, improved ride with rear shock and high/low setting on handlebar heaters. BLAST M Limited model with 36-inch ski stance, FOX FLOAT® 3 ski and rear shocks, and IFP front rear shock, lightweight mountain seat, and special color and graphics. Youth sleds have new graphics with black hood.

All 2023 Arctic Cat snowmobiles will be available for pre-order during April 19 – May 3. SKI-DOO UNVEILS REV GEN5 PLATFORM FOR 2023 https://www.supertraxmag.com/press-releases/ski-doo-unveils-rev-gen5-platform-for-2023/ https://www.supertraxmag.com/press-releases/ski-doo-unveils-rev-gen5-platform-for-2023/#respond Tue, 15 Feb 2022 06:00:00 +0000 https://new.supertraxmag.com/uncategorized/ski-doo-unveils-rev-gen5-platform-for-2023/ BRP Inc. (TSX:DOO; NASDAQ:DOOO) introduces the fifth generation of the REV as it celebrates 20 years since this industry-shaping platform revolutionized riding with a more natural and controlled driving position.

The new REV Gen5 demonstrates the company’s constant quest to innovate and find ways to ongoingly improve the riding experience. This time, it is with a fresh and refined new design that provides specific features for deep snow and trail riders.

Riders in both these segments will have the option of a large display and a fully connected experience. The deep snow models can also be equipped with the industry’s most powerful 2-stroke turbocharged engine. The 2023 Ski-Doo snowmobile lineup offers a perfect ride for everyone including new entrants to the sport and youth thanks to the introduction of new models.

Unveiling the new REV Gen5 platform and Rotax 850 E-TEC Turbo R

“This fifth generation of the iconic REV platform is the next major evolution in the Ski-Doo riding experience, pushing the boundaries of innovation for an ever-more agile and powerful sled,” stated Annick Lauzon, Global Marketing Director, Ski-Doo. The REV Gen5 platform delivers the latest technologies to offer riders their best experience ever.

The trail version, available on all 850 E-TEC MXZs and select Renegades for Model Year 2023, gets a stunning athletic look with four LED headlights bringing more than 4800 lumens. It also features a new engine cradle that dampens noise and vibration, as well as new CVT cooling for extended belt life to enhance both the riding and ownership experience.

The deep snow version, on the 2023 Ski-Doo Summit and Freeride models, gets three inches narrower, up to 16 lbs. lighter, benefits from all new rear suspension geometry and has the option of the brand new Rotax 850 E-TEC Turbo R engine.

Only three years after introducing the world’s first production turbocharged 2-stroke, BRP ups the game by debuting the new Rotax 850 E-TEC Turbo R, the most powerful 2-stroke turbo engine in the industry, at 180 horsepower.

The proven track record of the 850 E-TEC in both turbo and non turbo versions provide riders with the confidence they will get from turnkey ease of use and outstanding performance in all conditions, at all altitudes.

Riders choosing REV Gen5 models will also have the option of adding the all-new 10.25″ Color Touch Screen Display that takes connectivity to the next level. The new display features an elegant design and state of the art technology including both Bluetooth and Wi-Fi for seamless connectivity and over-the-air software updates.

The simple, predictable and consistent interface with touchscreen and hand controls exemplifies ease-of-use for riders. The built-in BRP Connect system enables quick connection to smart phones and communication systems so riders can enjoy music, talk with each other, see navigation on screen with the BRP Go! app, and much more.

Debuting all-new Ski-Doo models for new entrants and young riders

The MY23 Ski-Doo snowmobile lineup is also bolstered by brand new models – the Neo and Neo+. “We have been seeing record-high numbers of new entrants coming into the world of snowmobiling recently and looking for an accessible way to try out the sport for themselves,” said Lauzon. “Doing that on a sled that is designed to match their skills and confidence level, while still delivering every ounce of That Ski-Doo Feeling they’re looking for, is why we’re proud to introduce the Neo.”

The Neo models are targeted at new riders and people transitioning between youth and full-size models. With a starting price of $6,399 USD/$7,999 CAD the Neo offers a huge fun factor, ease of use with features like electric start, electronic fuel injection and reverse, all while being less intimidating with ideal power and compact ergonomics.

For 2023, BRP is also pleased to introduce the MXZ 120 and 200, making it easier for the whole family to get in on the fun of riding a Ski-Doo sled. These smaller snowmobiles are ideal to let the passion start young as riders get their first taste of the freedom snowmobiling brings and offer stepping stones towards even more fun.
